As most of you would know, and as our blog name suggests both Kari and I have a love for all things vintage. So when Rockingham Shopping Centre approached me to take part in theirThrowback to the Future event, which involved recreating an iconic fashion image we related to by sourcing clothes and accessories from Rockingham Shopping Centre alongside my girls Adelle from Where the Styled Things Are, Lei Lei from Lei Lady Lei, Emily from She Does Style, Jenelle from Inspiring Wit and Monique from Little Miss Mon Bon – I obviously couldn’t resist!audrey-hepburnthe essentialist blog 2Choosing which image to recreate was an absolute no brainer, Audrey Hepburn has always been my style icon. Her effortlessness and the simplicity of her outfits embody how I like to dress – or how I would like to look. I’ve always loved this image of her with Mr Famous, her gorgeous little Yorkshire Terrier so I tried to recreate it and hope that I have in a way paid homage to this incredible photograph. Sadly I did not have a Yorkie handy and my cat Charlie was not too keen to be a fill in so it simply had to be flowers.

These beautiful images were captured by the incredibly talented Pia from Mad Love Nation. If you like my image vote for me here and you could win a $200 gift voucher!the essentialist blog 3 the essentialist blog 4 the essentialist blog 5 As I don’t often spend a lot of time in Rockingham, it was a great opportunity to check out the shopping centre – with my tour guide Adelle. I could not believe how big the centre was and the number of retailers present – needless to say there were endless opportunities. I decided to stick to my current rules of thumb; versatile basics, clean lines and ability to be wearable all year round! I hope you enjoy Xx Nadinethe essentialist blogWhat I am wearing:
