Last night we stepped to in Spring thanks to Karrinyup Shopping Centre as they took us through the key trends for Spring Summer with special guest Blogger, Photographer and Stylist Amanda Shadforth from Oracle Fox while talented Perth Artist Sara Winfield did a live painting for guests.

Having followed Shaforth’s blog for several years and being an avid fan of Fashion Bloggers her personality already shined through as being very down to earth and friendly, but nothing could prepare me for how relatable, funny, generous and inspiring she really was. Needless to say I was #fangirling the whole time we were talking about her Pomeranian and my cats – I know very fashionable!

Prior to this discussion Karrinyup Shopping Centre treated us to styling session with Shadforth, taking us through some key looks from retailers around the centre. We all already knew the 70s were back in full swing, but here are some of my favourite micro trends:

  1. Up the leg shoes: Whether they are in the form of knee grazing gladiators or tie up heels, this summer you need a pair of shoes that go up the leg! I absolutely fell in love with these from Hobbs.

  1. Headwear: No doubt the sun will be out in full force this summer, and although sun kissed skin is great we need to remember to be sun-smart, in style! This summer think headscarves and bandanas, boater hats and straw fedoras.

Think rusty tans, nudes, crisp whites and washed denims. A clean and versatile palette that will work with everything else in your wardrobe.

While guests mingled and chatted away the incredibly talented Sara Winfield live painted one of her “signature doe eyed girls.” Owning one of her paintings has been on my wish list for quite some time now and having moved into my new home – that conveniently has lots of wall space, makes the prospect even more exciting!
