The Art of Shirting

The humble white shirt is a staple in most wardrobes providing a polished yet effortless look. From an unbuttoned silk shirt tucked into a pair of high-waisted jeans to a poplin shirt worn under a dress, the shirt's minimal design means that it always finds a place in my daily uniform. And this season - luckily for me - is all about the art of shirting, the classic shirt has been reworked and given edge, from deconstructed necklines to extra long cuffs - made iconic by Anna Quan to exaggerated ruffles, the new-age shirt is taking center stage and I found the perfect one to add to my existing edit.

Uh La La Land is a Portugal based brand specialising in custom made shirts, Lei Lei introduced me to brand after I was endlessly trolling the web for the perfect ruffled shirt. Uh La La Land's Lilu Ruffle Blouse was the perfect combination of classic and playful, I adored the statement ruffles - which looked like meringue-like folds and that fact that it was going to be custom made to my measurements and at an incredibly reasonable price was another reason to support an independent creative rather than a high street retailer.
